What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a completely new approach to orthodontic treatment. Instead of using metal brackets and wires to push and pull teeth into position, Invisalign uses a system of clear plastic aligners to gently realign your teeth and bite. During your consultation with Dr. Jones, he will let you know if Invisalign is right for you.

The Invisalign process begins with the creation of digital impressions using our state-of-the-art iTero scanner. Instead of messy, uncomfortable impression trays, this scanner takes a picture of your teeth and bite in a matter of seconds. These digital images are used to create a three-dimensional model of your smile on our computer, which is used to plan your Invisalign treatment and preview your results. Dr. Jones will design a set of clear aligners for you based on this model and these aligners will be fabricated by Invisalign.

Wear your aligners for the recommended amount of time each day, then switch to a new set every two weeks until your treatment is complete. Getting the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted is that easy!

Benefits of Invisalign

Convenience

Invisalign is orthodontics without the hassle. There are no food restrictions, fewer office visits, and you can brush and floss like you normally would because your aligners are removable.

Discreet Treatment

Invisalign lives up to the name—the aligners are virtually invisible, so no one will notice that you’re wearing them. This makes Invisalign ideal for adults who want to straighten their teeth.

Comfort

Your aligners are made with smooth, clear plastic that is molded to your teeth, making them much more comfortable than traditional braces.

Are You a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is a fit for most patients who wish to correct bite alignment, crowding, and gaps between teeth. That said, there are some complex cases where traditional braces are a better option. The only way to know if you’re a candidate for Invisalign is to come to our office for a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign

  • How much does Invisalign cost in Little Rock?

Invisalign is a series of removable clear “aligners” that are worn to move teeth as effectively as traditional braces . This technology can be slightly more expensive than traditional braces, however flexible payment plans with low down payments are offered! We strive to keep our aligner fee very competitive and most find that finances are a minimal factor in choosing aligners versus traditional braces.

  • How do I pay for Invisalign?

We request that some “down payment” be made, however we can discuss creative solutions that work for your budget. Typically, the balance is spread out to be paid during the duration of the treatment and our payment structure is usually every 4-5 weeks.

If you have an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) or an HSA (Health Savings Account), you can use that money to pay for your Invisalign.  We also work with Care Credit.

Please discuss with us your financial concerns, as we are creatively able to accommodate most budgets!

  • Is Invisalign covered by insurance?

Most dental insurance companies often have an orthodontic benefit that can be used for Invisalign Treatment, just as they would cover traditional braces or any other orthodontic treatment. The amount of coverage depends on each individual plan and can cover from $500 to $2500. Our staff will thoroughly work with your insurance to make sure you are getting the most benefit from your plan.

  • How painful is Invisalign?

Some patients report mild soreness in the first few days of treatment, however if any mild discomfort is experienced it is usually managed very effectively with Ibuprofen or Tylenol. It is not necessary to take prescription medication, and any discomfort generally subsides within a few days. Sometimes a new aligner can cause mild soreness however to a much less degree and managed with the above care.

  • What’s cheaper braces or Invisalign?

Traditional braces tend to be slightly cheaper than aligners. The more pertinent question is which is a better treatment option for you. We find finances are usually similar enough between both approaches to allow the decision to be a personal preference. Dr. Jones and his staff will guide you through this decision. Traditional braces are semi-permanent and the bracket-wire ensemble is fixed on your dentition for the duration of the treatment. Invisalign aligners consist of BPA free clear plastic that is worn over your teeth and moves your teeth gently as aligners are changed every 1-2 weeks.

  • Does Invisalign give you a lisp or make speaking challenging?

When you first wear your Invisalign aligners you may notice a slight lisp to the “s”, “t” and “th” sounds, until your tongue gets used to the sensation of the clear plastic on the teeth. This usually disappears within 1-2 days from the start of treatment. We have had NO patients discontinue treatment due to speech issues, and that includes patients that speak for a living!

  • Is Invisalign as good as braces?

Invisalign aligners, also known as clear braces and invisible braces, are a more recent approach to moving teeth. In most cases, aligners and braces can work within the same time frame, however there are some situations where one or the other may be advantageous. Dr. Jones will thoroughly evaluate and explain the pros and cons of each system to assist you in making the correct decision for you.

  • Can I kiss with Invisalign?

Yes! No one notices. Our patients report that at the beginning of the treatment they would take them out but as treatment progressed they became more secure that no one would notice.

  • Can I take a selfie with Invisalign?

Yes! Invisalign aligners do not show in selfies or any other photo. If you have an event and are nervous about it, then, by all means, take them out - just don’t forget to put them back in as soon as you can.

  • How long will the Invisalign treatment take?

The answer to this question is related to the complexity of the case, but in general we can complete treatment within 12 months and often much less!
